About the Client
The NSW Family and Community Services (FACS) cluster works with children, adults, families and communities to improve lives and help people realise their potential. Patchwork and Redlink are two projects initiated by FACS. Patchwork is a smart, secure web-app for better team collaboration around clients. It saves time and effort connecting frontline workers with other practitioners across agencies. Redlink is an outreach centre in the heart of the Redfern social housing estate. Its goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of residents by delivering integrated face-to-face services to address social isolation.
Client’s challenge
The Patchwork project teamed up with Redlink to help them further improve their effectiveness by integrating the Patchwork app into their daily work. Patchwork then wanted to show the NSW social sector just how powerful Patchwork can be, using Redlink as a case study. It was very important to the client that the video had a warmth to it, reflective of the caring culture of the services involved.
Our Solution
In order to capture the narrative, tone and look required to convey the Patchwork/Redlink story, Magpie bought experienced film director, Platon Theodoris. Platon worked with the speakers and crafted the shots to tell a powerful story involving both local residents and Redlink staff. It was shot over two days on location in Redfern.
The Result
The result was a three-minute video that was both visually and emotionally engaging. It told a great story about the value of Redlink whilst also calling out the important role Patchwork is playing in linking professionals so they can better service local residents. The client loved the video and have used it widely to promote Patchwork to the social services sector.
